Using the title “psychologist” and the profession of health psychology and clinical psychology are regulated by federal law in Austria. Graduates who have successfully completed a psychology study programme with a total of at least 300 ECTS credits at a recognised domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution are entitled to use the title psychologist. The Austrian law also regulates the postgraduate training and professional practice of health psychology and clinical psychology, i.e. requiring a completed psychology degree.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Dr. Alfred Barth, Head of the Psychology Department Linz, on the study programme:

Accreditation of the Psychology Programme

Sigmund Freud University itself and all regular university studies in psychology offered by the Faculty of Psychology are accredited in Austria by the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria.
