Since the academic year 2018, the university course in “Trauma Education and Trauma-Centred Counselling” has been offered at Sigmund Freud University.
People who have already suffered trauma in their childhood often need more than helpers have learned in their training as educators, teachers and other educational and psychosocial professions. This course provides the necessary expertise to professionally support children, adolescents and adults who have been traumatised in simple and complex ways. The psychological findings of psychotraumatology and its related scientific fields, attachment and resilience research as well as neurobiological models of psychological trauma form the basis of trauma education work.
